The Glasgow-based X19 bus service operated by Stagecoach West Scotland will from this week include an additional stop at the NHS Louisa Jordan Hospital based at the Scottish Events Campus (SEC) in the City.
The X19 operates a vital service every 10 minutes running between Glasgow’s main hospitals – the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and The Royal Infirmary – and Easterhouse. From 1 February, this service will now include the NHS Louisa Jordan supporting key workers travelling to and from hospitals throughout the Covid-19 pandemic as well as members of the public who are invited to attend for their vaccination appointments.
Fiona Doherty, Managing Director for Stagecoach West Scotland said: “We are pleased to be able to adjust our X19 route this week to now include the NHS Louisa Jordan Hospital in Glasgow. We know this will be an important journey for many people now and in the future months as the vaccination programme continues.
“Our services across West Scotland also provide a vital lifeline for key workers with the health and safety of our customers and drivers at the core.
“I encourage all passengers to wear a face covering unless medically exempt and to follow social distancing advice on our buses and at bus stops or bus stations. Please follow the latest government guidance and stay at home if possible, avoiding any non-essential travel.”
Councillor David Wilson, chair of SPT operations committee, said: “SPT recognises the importance of the national vaccination programme and we are proud to play our part in working to assist all NHS Health Boards in the Strathclyde area to ensure public transport options for those who need to it to get to their centre.
“We are particularly pleased to see such direct support from Stagecoach with their commercial X19 service further enhancing direct and improved access to the Louisa Jordan Facility and servicing Easterhouse Vaccine Centre”.
Stagecoach West Scotland continues to carry out extensive cleaning regimes on its buses and at its depots and bus stations to protect the safety and wellbeing of customers and bus workers.
