Abbeyfield Scotland, the charity that provides independent living with support for people across Scotland, held a celebration at their house in Coatbridge this week to mark the completion of an interiors upgrade project and its partnership with North Lanarkshire Council’s Enhanced Living Services Scotland programme.

The partnership provides housing and support to people in Coatbridge ensuring that tenants feel safe and secure while enjoying the benefits of independent living with the support, compassion and respect from the professional teams. The goal of the partnership is to reduce the need for long term institutional care for older adults in the North Lanarkshire area.

The Chair of Abbeyfield Scotland, Nance Smith joined residents, invited guests from the community, and the Abbeyfield Scotland team to officially cut the ribbon in the newly refurbished house.

Carolynn Malone, Service Manager from Abbeyfield Scotland said: “It’s great for the residents and Abbeyfield team to celebrate both a successful partnership with NLC and ELSS and also to enjoy the newly refurbished house. At Abbeyfield we want to ensure that we keep looking forward and adapt to needs of the communities where we have houses. Over the past two years, our partnership has been successful due to a shared vision of achieving good things for people in the local area.”
