Buses from Lauder, Westruther and Duns for three visits over the weekend

Next month, as part of Doors Open Day 2022, Scottish Borders residents can sign up for a free, exclusive visit to Fallago Rig wind farm in the Lammermuir Hills.

Operated by EDF Renewables UK, the wind farm will be open for visitors as part of Scottish Borders Council’s Doors Open Days weekend (Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th September). Over the course of the weekend, there will be three visits to the wind farm. With two visits on Saturday and one on Sunday. Places for these visits are limited and must be booked in advance online.

The Doors Open Day visits provide rare opportunities for members of the public to find out for themselves how the 48 wind turbines turn the power of the wind on the Lammermuirs into the electricity used to power homes and businesses across the country. As well as having the chance to go inside a turbine and see the Fallago Rig control room, visitors will meet the onsite EDF Renewables UK technical team.

Transport to the site will be provided for all three trips, with buses leaving from Lauder, Westruther and Duns across the weekend. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided at the wind farm. Members of the EDF Renewables UK team will be on hand to show visitors round and to answer questions.

Doors Open Days is Scotland’s largest free festival celebrating places and stories, new and old, and this year Scottish Borders Council is showcasing the heritage, culture and places for which the region is famous as well as some unusual and undiscovered gems.
