Team Spreng Thomson back STV Children’s Appeal

Scotland’s biggest women-only running event, the Great Women’s 10k, is only a few weeks away and Team Spreng Thomson is preparing to run the new course and raise funds to help children in Scotland.

The STV Children’s Appeal is the new charity partner for the event. Every single penny raised stays in Scotland to support the children who need it most.

One in five children and young people in Scotland live in poverty in Scotland, affecting over 220,000 people. For some, the issue is so acute that some families have to make the heart-breaking decision each day as to whether it is more important to heat their house or sit down to eat. It was in the face of such frightening statistics that the STV Children’s Appeal was launched.

The STV Children’s Appeal was launched in 2011 by The Hunter Foundation and STV. They came together to raise funds and to help make a real difference to those who need it most, by providing practical help like food and warm clothes; creating opportunities for training and employability; and enabling social and emotional support.

With a musical theme for the Great Women’s 10k in Glasgow, Consultants Meadhbh Boyd (fiddle) and Julie Griffin (synthesiser) and Consultancy Support Manager, Rachel O’Malley (ukulele) had fun at the iconic Pacific Quay in the brilliant spring sunshine in Glasgow. Taking part on Sunday 5th June, raising funds for the STV Appeal, they will join thousands of women from all walks of life, and supportive crowds of onlookers, hit the streets of Glasgow for a fun day out.

Meadhbh said “We’re proud to support the STV Appeal and we’re looking forward to running alongside the thousands of others taking part. Here’s hoping the weather will hold up for us!”
