Pest Solutions, the UK pest control business based in Glasgow, is celebrating a significant award win in the ‘Net Zero Achievement’ category at this year’s Glasgow Business Awards, highlighting the company’s continued investment in sustainable and net zero practices as it plays a key role in supporting Scotland’s net zero transition.

The Glasgow Business Awards is firmly established as the leading awards ceremony for the Glasgow business community. Attracting high profile industry support and involvement, the awards offer Glasgow businesses the opportunity to promote major achievements and celebrate success.

Pest Solutions has appeared regularly at the Glasgow Business Awards over recent years with a variety of nominations across different categories as the business continues to grow and gain wider recognition in Scotland and across the UK. This year, the business was nominated in two categories, ‘Inspiring Future Talent’, and its winning entry, ‘Net Zero Achievement’.

Building a sustainable future for the pest control industry and investing in young talent are two of the fundamental principles supporting the company’s rapid growth so far and are central to future plans.

Pest Solutions was recognised for its continued work in bringing net zero and sustainability methods to the pest control industry, with its involvement in the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce programme, ‘Step Up to Net Zero’, proving to be a vital part in its journey to implement more sustainable elements across the business.

As part of the programme, Maisie Bullock, who holds a Master’s degree in ‘Environmental Futures: Sustainable Systems’ from The University of Glasgow, joined the Pest Solutions team as Net Zero and Sustainability Coordinator, one of the first roles dedicated to sustainable and net zero practices in the UK pest control industry.

Going paperless, strict vehicle checks, optimised route planning, investing in electric vehicles and a raft of energy efficiency upgrades to its Glasgow office are just some of the changes that have been made in recent times, as well as integrating sustainability best practices into company training to ensure a cohesive effort across the entire business.

Chris Cagienard, Managing Director at Pest Solutions and President of British Pest Control Association, said:

“This award is testament to the hard work and dedication our team show every single day supporting our customers and implementing our exciting sustainability plans across the business.

“At Pest Solutions, we prioritise excellent customer service and enhancing our business at every opportunity and our investment into our net zero and sustainable practices is pivotal to our success moving forward. Our involvement in the ‘Step Up to Net Zero’ programme has been a game changer and we look forward to continuing to work hard to achieve our sustainability goals and support Scotland on its journey to net zero.”

This latest award win continues a winning run for Pest Solutions in recent months with the business being named Pest Business of the Year and Large Business of the Year at this year’s National Pest Awards in September.
