The HALO Kilmarnock today (24.11.22) announces an exciting and innovative global partnership with Israel’s energy community, EnergyCom.

The partnership aims to create a framework that will provide access to the skills and capabilities of the partner organisations to support innovation, skills support and the development of energy and net zero solutions.

Specifically, the aim of the partnership is to open commercial opportunities for both the HALO and EnergyCom through increased collaboration between the United Kingdom and Israel, driven through knowledge and expertise across a range of sectors and industries including energy, construction, digital skills and cyber security.

This innovative partnership agreement follows important initial discussions during COP26 in Glasgow. Yoav Katsavoy, Chairman of the Israel Electricity Authority, visited The HALO Enterprise and Innovation Centre in November 2021 to learn about The HALO’s 23-acre Digital and Cyber Innovation Park from HALO Urban Regeneration Company founder and Executive Chair, Marie Macklin CBE.

EnergyCom is Israel’s energy innovation community. As Israel’s leading and largest entity in the field of energy production and conservation, EnergyCom unites all players active in the energy sector, with a goal to promote innovation.

The community was established at the initiative of the Ministry of Economy and is operated by the Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy Initiative and the Israel Association for Smart Energy. In addition, the Ministry of Energy and the Innovation Authority are partners in the project.

The vision of EnergyCom is to achieve economic growth through energy by making new ventures feasible, expanding research, creating jobs, identifying and serving energy markets, and positioning Israel as a leader in energy innovation.

With a vision for a dynamic commercial, educational, cultural leisure and lifestyle quarter where people can ‘Live, Work, Learn and Play’, the HALO is at the forefront of helping create a Net Zero carbon building. It provides a sustainable community approach to a mixed-use development, creating jobs, economic growth, skills development, clean energy and 210 smart homes.

Set within Phase one of The HALO development is the HALO Enterprise and Innovation Centre (HEIC). Opened earlier this year, the HEIC collaborates with the HALO’s platinum partner, ScottishPower, to establish the principles for a “living lab” test bed site across the entire HALO campus, delivering positive outcomes for the people of Kilmarnock and for The HALO’s Platinum Partner, Scottish Power, in an all-electric, low-carbon campus.

The HALO Enterprise and Innovation Centre is powered by its low-carbon tech, including its 107 rooftop solar panels that can generate 36kWh of electricity, its 75 carport solar panels producing 24kWh of electricity from its electric bike and car recharging stations, the 50kW battery power storage and the HALO’s very own bespoke electric bus, all powered by 100% renewable energy.

Marie Macklin CBE, Founder and Executive Chair of HALO Urban Regeneration Company, said: “Following on from COP26, it’s clear that immediate action is required on our collective mission to make Scotland, the UK and the wider world more sustainable and full of opportunity, not just for today but for our children’s children.

“This first of its kind partnership offers incredible opportunities for exciting collaboration across vital sectors including energy, digital and cyber. We look forward to continuing our relationship with the EnergyCom team as we work together to create the new tomorrow’s world.”

Amos Lasker, CEO of EnergyCom, added: “We’re aiming to mutually connect energy professionals and innovators from the UK & Israel. The partnership between our organisations will establish a platform for innovative ideas, initiatives, and projects in the areas of distributed & vertical energy, renewables & storage, transmission & distribution infrastructure, hydrogen, emission reduction and other solutions for climate change.”

The Ayrshire Growth Deal is a partnership being driven forward by the Scottish Government, the UK Government and East, North and South Ayrshire Councils. The Deal presents a major opportunity to strengthen the Ayrshire, Scottish and UK economies, with £251.5 million of funding available to help Ayrshire to realise its potential as a world-class business region, including supporting the HALO Kilmarnock in its journey so far.
