Distinguished theoretical neuroscientist to speak at Entrepreneurial Scotland Conference

Entrepreneurial Scotland has announced that entrepreneur and renowned theoretical neuroscientist, Dr Vivienne Ming, will join the line-up for next month’s annual conference at Gleneagles.

She co-founded Socos Labs, her fifth company, an independent think tank exploring the future of human potential. Dr. Ming launched Socos Labs to combine her varied work with that of other creative experts and expand their impact on global policy issues, both inside companies and throughout our communities.

Previously Vivienne was a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley’s Redwood Center for Theoretical Neuroscience, pursuing research in cognitive neuroprosthetics. In her free time, Vivienne has invented AI systems to help treat her diabetic son, predict future manic episodes in bipolar sufferers, and reunited orphan refugees with extended family members.

Commenting from California ahead of the Entrepreneurial Scotland Conference on April 26, Dr Ming said she was excited to be speaking at the event which this year promotes the theme of ‘Global Mindset’, encouraging organisations to embrace diversity and new cultures to generate fresh business approaches.

Dr Ming said:

“Over the last ten years I have founded several companies which tackle serious issues in areas that really matter, such as the future of work, mental health and education.

“I’m looking forward to coming to Gleneagles to share the story of their development and the results we have had in enhancing lives and making the planet a more interesting place.”

Sandy Kennedy, CEO of Entrepreneurial Scotland, said:

“I’m delighted that Vivienne Ming is joining Entrepreneurial Scotland for our annual conference. She is a much sought-after speaker and respected scientist who exemplifies the true meaning of global mindset and entrepreneurship. I am looking forward to welcoming her to Scotland in April and hearing her share her business experiences. I am sure we can learn a great deal from her expertise and knowledge as an innovative business visionary.”

Bob Hair, Head of Edinburgh Office, Cazenove Capital who are the headline conference sponsors, said: “Vivienne Ming is a fantastic addition to the international line-up for Entrepreneurial Scotland’s Conference. Cazenove Capital prides itself in supporting entrepreneurial endeavour and we are happy to partner with Entrepreneurial Scotland for what promises to be an inspirational and fascinating event next month.”

Entrepreneurial Scotland’s Conference 2018 is open to members and non-members.
