Declan BarbourNnG Offshore Wind

The Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind farm (NnG) has reached another significant milestone with the completion of the installation of its final wind turbine in the early hours of this morning (Monday 7thApril 2025).

The project is due to be fully operational this summer after the next stage of commissioning has been completed.

NnG is located 15.5 km off the Fife coast and covers an area of approximately 105 km2. Jointly owned by EDF Renewables UK and Ireland and ESB, once fully commissioned, the 54 turbine offshore wind farm will have a capacity of c.450MW – supplying enough low carbon electricity for around 375,000 homes and offsetting 400,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.*

* Based upon the average domestic electricity consumption per home of 3,889 kWh per the energy consumption in the UK (published July 2017) and Renewable-UK offshore wind average load factor at 37.2%.
